The Rundown: Syracuse, Hopkins, Michigan, Cornell, Penn, Holy Cross, Providence, Albany, Fairfield & more

combine_imagesAs we get closer to the season, commitments will be few and far between, so I’m packing a ton of verbals from the past month into tonight’s edition after plenty were included on Thursday. A number of prominent schools are represented in this Rundown from the ACC, Big 10, Patriot League, Ivy League and several other conferences. 2019’s

Sean Donnelly, A, IMG Academy (Fla.) / Patriot has committed to Syracuse. This fall, he attended FLG in 3d, Philly Freshman Showcase and the Adrenaline Fall Invitational. The 6’0, 165-pound recruit also visited North Carolina and Duke.

Blake Rodgers, LSM/D, Herndon (Va.) / VLC has committed to Johns Hopkins. Currently a sophomore, the 6’2, 165-pound recruit participated in events with his club team as well as the WaveLax Top 22, Lehigh Valley Showcase (All-Star) and Brine National Classic. He plays both varsity football and lacrosse visiting Richmond and Lehigh before going with the Blue Jays.

Will Hurley, LSM/D, Manheim Township (Pa.) / Big 4 HHH has committed to Michigan. Though he missed the fall circuit with a broken leg suffered in football as a running back and linebacker, he has attended NLF Futures, UNC Prospect Camp, Big 4 Champions League, Young Guns and U-15 Nationals. Also visited North Carolina and Notre Dame.

2018’s

Jayce Lambert, A, Thayer Academy (Mass.) / Laxachusetts has committed to Holy Cross. The 5’9, 160-pound prospect attended Big 4 Champions League, Crabfeast and Legacy after putting up 30 points as a freshman. Lambert also visited Providence and Fairfield.

Nico Ragaini, M, Notre Dame of West Haven (Conn.) / CT Cardinals has switched from Albany to Cornell. Currently a junior, he’ll PG and join the Big Red’s Class of 2018. Ragaini was All-State last year and is also a two-time All-State wide receiver on the football field with gridiron highlights viewable here.

Alex Gainey, G, St. Sebastian’s (Mass.) / Laxachusetts has committed to Holy Cross. An All-Star at the 2014 Philly Freshman Showcase and NE Elite Invitational, the 6’3, 190-pound athlete also attended the Philly Showcase, Black Card, Platinum Cup, Big 4 Champions League and Crabfeast. Also plays hockey.

Will Thomas, M, Cohasset (Mass.) / Laxachusetts has committed to Providence. Thomas started as a freshman on varsity and put up 28 points, also playing football as a starting linebacker. The 6’0, 190-pound athlete attended Legacy, Big 4 Champions League, Philly Showcase and Crabfeast since the summer. He also visited Michigan and Lehigh. His highlights can be seen here.

Zach Cole, F/O, Lenape (N.J.) / Duke’s LC has committed to St. Joseph’s. Named to the All-Star Game at SweetLax Invitational, he also attended Champ Camp. Cole visited Towson and Ohio State before pulling the trigger on Taylor Wray’s Hawks.

Ryan Smith, M, West Genesee (N.Y.) / CNY Roadhawks has committed to Albany. Smith participated in the Under Armour Uncommitted Games and was an All-Star at the All-Canada Games, also attending John Pepper, Cornfield Classic and Terrapin Classic. The 6’3, 170-pound sophomore also plays hockey.

Salvatore Iaria, M, Bainbridge Island (Wash.) / Seattle Starz has committed to Vermont. An All-Star at the Adrenaline Challenge, he also attended MVP, Philly Summer Invitational and Adrenaline Invitational. Also visited Colorado Mesa.

Rainier Lee, M, St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) / VLC has committed to Providence. Named the MVP at the Philly Showcase, the 5’9, 155-pound sophomore also attended the Famous Autumn Classic and Philly Team Showcase this summer. He also visited teams in the CAA and SoCon before choosing the Friars, also participating in soccer during the fall season.

Chase Taylor, A/M, Great Oak (Calif.) has committed to Furman. Playing club for 3d San Diego and 395 Starz, he was the leading scorer last year on the varsity and an All-County nominee. The 6’4, 190-pound prospect also visited St. Joseph’s, Navy, Penn, Air Force and UMBC.

Mark McGinley, A, Chagrin Falls (Oh.) / Burning River has committed to the admissions process at Penn. An All-Star at King of the Hill, he also attended Maverik Showtime and Philly Showcase. The 6’2, 175-pound prospect also visited Fairfield, St. Joseph’s and Princeton.

Ben Mazur, G, Lancaster (N.Y.) / Buffalo Lacrosse Academy has committed to Canisius. A Fab 40 All-Star at the Philly Showcase, he also attended the UMass Summer Classic, National Showcase and Madlax Capital Showcase. As a freshman, Mazur, stopped 60% of shots faced and was named to the First Team All-Bee Newspaper team. The 5’10, 175-pound sophomore plays football as a wide receiver and outside linebacker. He also visited Mercyhurst.

Andrew Derasmo, A, Harborfields (N.Y.) / LI Outlaws has committed to St. Joseph’s. Derasmo was an All-Star at Philly Showcase and National 175, also attending the Top 40 Suffolk Showcase and Prep School Showcase, holding plans to attend Maverik Showtime this upcoming summer. The 6’1, 175-pound sophomore also visited Fairfield and Providence.

2017’s

Jack Kiernan, A, Ridgewood (N.J.) / Leading Edge has committed to Siena. The 5’9, 180-pound junior was an All-Star at UNC Team Camp, also attending Nike Blue Chip, Philly Showcase, QuakerFest, Champions League, MVP and FLG in 3d, participating in football during the fall. He also visited Penn State, High Point, Navy and St. Joseph’s.

Kyle Berkeley, M, Calverton (Md.) / Philadelphia Freedom switched his commitment from Quinnipiac to Drexel on January 17th. The 6’2, 185-pound junior put up 51 points on varsity as a sophomore and also plays varsity basketball. His highlights can be seen here.

Cullen Joyce, LSM/D, Severna Park (Md.) / Baltimore Crabs has committed to Monmouth. The 6’1, 180-pound athlete also starts on the varsity basketball team in addition to being a starter the last two years in lacrosse. Last summer, he attended Crabfeast, NSCLA, Platinum Cup, FLG in 3d, making the Under Armour Uncommitted Game and Free State Top 22. He also considered Navy and Wagner. Sean Nelson, D, Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.) / Tar Heel LC has committed to Colgate. Over the past few months, the 6’2, 195-pound junior was an All-Star at King of the Hill and FLG Legit 120, also attending Baltimore Summer Kickoff, Jake Reed’s Fall Blue Chip and FLG in 3d. Also plays varsity football.

George Elmquist, D, Southlake Carroll (Tex.) / Iron Horse, Dallas Select has committed to Fairfield. An All-Star at T99 and UNC Team Camp, he also attended Baltimore Summer Kickoff, King of the Hill, Jake Reed’s Blue Chip, UVA Team Camp, North America HS Cup and UPLax. Also visited Providence, Amherst and Tufts.

Jack Mattei, M/FO, Cathedral (Ind.) has committed to the admissions process at Dartmouth. Playing club for True, LI Sting and Titanium, he was an All-Star at IL Invitational, ND Team Camp, Philly Showcase and Baltimore Summer Kickoff, following up a season in which he earned 1st team All-State honors. The 6’0, 175-pound athlete also plays tennis and visited Fairfield, Notre Dame, Bellarmine, Detroit and Amherst before picking the Big Green.

Rudy Beck, M, Patterson Mill (Md.) / UC Mavericks has committed to Monmouth. An All-Star at MVP Towson and FLG in 3d, he also attended the Brine National Classic and Blue Chip. Also visited York, Tampa and Lynchburg.

Anthony Scaramucci, LSM, Manhasset (N.Y.) / LI Express has committed to Sacred Heart. Scaramucci has attended Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip in addition to events with the Long Island Express. He also visited Fairfield, Tufts, Brown and Dartmouth.

Dominic Pizzulli, A, Smithtown East (N.Y.) / LI Outlaws has committed to Monmouth. On top of events with the Long Island Outlaws Select team this summer, he attended Nike Blue Chip and Super Sophs. Pizzulli also visited St. Joseph’s, Manhattan and Stony Brook.
