The Rundown: UVA, Penn State, Notre Dame, Hopkins, Maryland, Loyola & More

It’s been several weeks since the last commitment rundown so with that said, here are 25 new verbal commitments to a plethora of NCAA Tournament teams. With two or so months until the spring season begins, we should see a push in more commitments before a pre-summer quiet time gets underway.

2019’s

Connor Humiston, A/M, Georgetown Prep (Md.) / Crabs has committed to Virginia. An All-Star at the IL Invitational, Humiston also attended East Coast Showcase, UPLax, Young Gunz, Platinum Cup, NSCLA, NLF Fall Frosh, Autumn Classic and Philly Showcase. Also participating in football, the 6’0, 160-pound athlete plays fullback and linebacker for the Little Hoyas. He also visited Michigan and Penn State.

Jacob Angelus, A/M, Paul VI (Va.) / Blackwolf has committed to Johns Hopkins. This summer and fall, Angelus attended NHSLS, Terps Young Guns, UPLax, East Coast Showcase, Archer Strong Foundation Classic and Baltimore Summer Kickoff, where he was an All-Star. The 5’7, 135-pound freshman also plays football. He also visited Maryland, Ohio State, Virginia and North Carolina.

Joey Corbett, FO/M, North Rockland (N.Y.) / Prime Time has committed to Maryland. As an 8th grader, he was All-League and Rookie of the Year, notching 19 goals and 20 assists. He attended the Platinum Cup last summer and was also on the All-Tournament Team at the IL Invitational. Corbett also visited Army and Duke.

Christian Cechini, A, Apex (N.C.) / Leading Edge has committed to Penn State. An All-Star at NLF Futures, he also attended Philly Showcase, Adrenaline Invitational, NLF Fall Frosh and Big 4 Champions League. Cechini also visited Rutgers and Maryland.

Mike Roche, M, St. John’s Prep (Mass.) / Laxachusetts has committed to Maryland. The 5’9, 165-pound prospect attended NLF Fall Frosh, Big 4 Champions League, Philly Showcase and Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip over the last few months. The 5’9, 165-pound sophomore also participates in football and track, also starting as an 8th grader at Austin Prep. He also visited Penn State, Holy Cross and Penn.

2018’s

Will Abbott, M, Hopkinton (Mass.) / Fighting Clams has committed to Quinnipiac. This fall, he attended the Yale Bulldog Classic and Philly Showcase for both the individual and team portions. He also visited Hartford and Sacred Heart.

Jonathan Endicott, A, Trinity (Ky.) / Long Island Sting has committed to Furman. An All-Star at Top 205, Endicott also attended the Harvard Crimson Classic, Bulldog Classic, Legacy and Hotbeds. The 6’2, 170-pound recruit also visited UPenn.

Garrett Smith, G, Mountain Lakes (N.J.) / STEPS has committed to Notre Dame. An All-Star at FLG in 3d and Philly Showcase, he also attended Maverik Showtime and Prep School Showcase. The 6’0, 175-pound keeper also participates in soccer and basketball, also visiting Harvard, Yale and Brown.

Trey Smith, M, Calvert Hall (Md.) / FCA Maryland has committed to High Point. Making the Cardinals’ varsity roster as a freshman, he was an All-Star this summer at Lehigh Showcase, also attending the Philly Showcase, Big 4 Champions League, Crabfeast and NHSLS. Smith also visited Lehigh, Richmond, Fairfield and Villanova.

Stephen Edler, D, Rumsen Fair Haven (N.J.) / Blue Star has committed to Richmond. Standing 6’1 and 175 pounds, he attended Adrenaline, Big 4 Champions League, Philly Showcase, Baltimore Summer Kickoff, King of the Hill, SweetLax Invitational, Under Armour Shootout and Tri-State since the summer. An All-Star at the Big 12 Invitational and Group 1 champion in the spring, the 6’1, 175-pound athlete also plays football. Edler also visited Princeton and Lafayette.

Bobby Bohner, LSM/D, La Salle (Pa.) / Big 4 HHH has committed to Lafayette. An All-Star at the Philly Showcase and Lehigh Showcase, he also attended Platinum Cup, Big 4 Champion’s League, LaxClash, Quaker Fest and FLG in 3d. The 5’10, 165-pound sophomore also plays soccer, visiting Lehigh, Penn and Bucknell before deciding on the Leopards.

Ryan Swain, M, Calvert Hall (Md.) / FCA Maryland has committed to Towson. The 6’0, 170-pound recruit attended NHSLS, Big 4 Champions League, Philly Showcase and Archer Strong Foundation Classic this spring, going undefeated with FCA. He also visited High Point.

Max Gilbane, D, Kent (Conn.) / 3d New England has committed to Sacred Heart. Over the past few months, he attended Fab Frosh, FLG in 3d, Mayflower and Crimson Classic, earning All-Star honors at Legacy. Standing 6’3 and 205 pounds, Gilbane also plays football, also visiting Providence before choosing the Pioneers.

Owen Weathersby, LSM/D, Avon Old Farms (Conn.) has committed to Albany. The Boulder (Colo.) native plays club for Prep Lax Showcase National and Team 18 Colorado, making the All-Star Games at Philly Showcase, Legacy Invitational and NXT Summer Showcase. The 6’3, 185-pound sophomore also plays soccer and visited Boston University and Vermont before deciding.

Tyler Eames, A, Sinclair (Ont.) / Edge has committed to Marquette. He has attended Philly Showcase, Big 4 Champions League, Autumn Classic, Towson Autumn Gold and Adrenaline Fall Invitational, putting up 36 goals and 24 assists throughout November. The 6’2, 165-pound sophomore also plays hockey and volleyball. Also visited UMass.

Tanner Hay, D, Victor (N.Y.) / SweetLax has committed to Albany. Standing out at Quaker Fest this fall among others, the lefty attended SweetLax Invitational, Liberty Bell Challenge, SweetLax Uncommitted Showcase, Big 4 Champions League, Maryland Young Guns and Maverik Showtime in the summer. He also considered Fairfield, Siena, Providence and Vermont.

Kyle McBride, D, Palos Verdes (Calif.) has committed to St. John’s. Playing club with Factory and LA Heat, he was named an All-Star at C2C Spotlight, LI Lax Fest and Adrenaline Challenge, also attending Denver Shootout, Terrapin Classic and Adrenaline High Rollers. Also plays varsity basketball.

Andrew Martinez, M, Trinity-Pawling (N.Y.) / Prime Time has committed to Rutgers. A transfer from North Rockland (N.Y.), he competed at Legacy, Adrenaline Invitational and Philly Showcase this fall, slated to attend Maverik Showtime, Black Card and NHSLS thiss ummer. He also considered UMass and Delaware.

Jack Kimmel, A, South Side (N.Y.) / Long Island Jesters has committed to Towson. Over the past few months, he was an All-Star at FLG in 3d and LI LaxFest, also representing Nassau County in the Long Island Showcase and attending several other events. The 5’10, 145-pound sophomore also plays soccer and visited Rutgers, UMass, Hofstra and Delaware before pledging to the Tigers.

DJ Sloan, A, St. John’s Shrewsbury (Mass.) / Fighting Clams has committed to Quinnipiac. This fall, he attended the UMass Classic, Harvard Crimson Classic and Philly Showcase. Sloan visited Hartford and UMass before choosing the Bobcats.

2017’s

Justin Angelel, M, Bellevue (Wash.) / Team Washington has committed to Lehigh. Named All-League last spring, he was an All-Star at the Philly Freshman Showcase last year as well as the Lehigh Valley Showcase. In addition, Angelel also attended Nike Blue Chip, Villanova’s Prospect Camp and the Prep School Showcase in Colorado. The 6’1, 180-pound athlete plays outside linebacker in football for Bellevue, winners of 11 out of the last 15 state championships. He also visited Harvard, Richmond and Air Force.

Chris Hervada, LSM/D, Haverford (Pa.) / Mesa Fresh has committed to Monmouth. Last summer, the SEPYLA All-Star attended the IL Invitational, Quakerfest and Crab City Challenge in addition to attending Project 9 back in October. Standing six feet tall and 165 pounds, he also wrestles for the Fords’ varsity and visited Villanova before deciding on Monmouth.

Ryan Murray, M/FO, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (Pa.) / Twist has committed to Drexel. An All-Star at Hotbeds and MVP Delaware, the 5’8, 165-pound junior also attended National 175, Best of the Best and the Liberty Bell Challenge. Also playing varsity football, Murray visited Mercer and Monmouth before deciding.

Colin Crowley, M, Delbarton (N.J.) / Blue Star has committed to Villanova. An All-Star at the Philly Showcase, he has also attended Nike Blue Chip, Under Armour Shootout, SweetLax Invitational, Adrenaline Fall Showcase and Big 4 Champion’s League. The 5’11, 175-pound junior also visited Richmond, Bryant, Lafayette, Middlebury and Amherst.
