The Rundown: 2018’s to UMass, Hobart; 2017’s & 2016’s to Cornell, Lehigh, Boston U., Furman, Holy Cross and more

Getting you caught up before the weekend, today’s Rundown includes the decision of the only remaining 2017 in the Top 75 rankings as well as a number of verbals from so-called mid-majors. Last week’s commitment pieces can be seen here and here, as can this piece detailing the trend of 2016’s changing their minds and a look at two highly touted commits.

Jack Gump, LSM/D, Chelmsford (Mass.) / Fighting Clams has committed to UMass. A member of the varsity teams in football, hockey and lacrosse, the 6’0, 165-pound Gump chose the in-state Minutemen after considering Loyola, Holy Cross, Boston U. and Vermont. This summer, he attended NSCLA, SweetLax Invitational, Under Armour Shootout, Philly Showcase Camp and Nike Blue Chip.

Max Pinilis, M, Randolph (N.J.) / Patriot has committed to Hobart. In the spring, the 5’9, 160-pound flourished in his starting role by putting up 34 goals and 14 assists. He chose Hobart after considering Penn State, Rutgers and Cornell.


Billy Coyle, A, Malvern Prep (Pa.) / Mesa Fresh has committed to the admissions process at Cornell. Named the No. 40 player in the class of 2017 last summer, the 5’7, 150-pound lefty scorer won a championship with the UA Philly team and attended events with Mesa Fresh. He picked the Big Red after looking at Harvard, Yale, Michigan and Lehigh.

Josh Reiss, M, St. Anne’s Belfield (Va.) / Madlax has committed to Lehigh. A rising senior at STAB, Reiss will be PGing before heading to play for Kevin Cassese. He was an All-Star this summer at Maverik Showtime, also attending IL Invitational, Nike Blue Chip, Crabfeast and the Platinum Cup. Reiss also visited Princeton, Richmond, Furman in addition to four other Patriot League schools before coming to his decision.

Andrew Volk, M, Severn (Md.) / Baltimore Crabs has committed to Boston University. After playing varsity in the spring, the 5’11, 170-pound prospect attended the Maryland Freestate Games, Black Card, Platinum Cup and UA Baltimore tryouts before suffering a wrist injury in mid-June that ended his summer early. Volk visited UMass, Furman and Jacksonville before choosing the Terriers.

Kyle Korwan, A/M, Massapequa (N.Y.) / LI Express, LI Sting has committed to Furman. Also on the wrestling team during the school year, Korwan attended Blue Chip 225 and MVP Delaware individually this summer. He also looked at UMass, Providence and Holy Cross.

Michael Dean, A, Jupiter (Fla.) / Palm Beach Revolution has committed to Jacksonville. Standing 6’2 and 185 pounds, Dean scored 52 goals with 17 assists while helping his team to a 19-4 record. He chose the Dolphins over Mercer, among others.

Tyler Corpora, A, Emmaus (Pa.) / NXT has committed to Hartford. He’s a two-time Fab 40 All-Star at the Philly Showcase Camp with more All-Star Game appearances at MVP Towson and the Philly Summer Invitational. The 5’6, 140-pound athlete also participates in wrestling and cross-country. He chose Hartford after getting strong interest from UMass-Lowell, Robert Morris, Salisbury and Cabrini.

Nick Paris, D, Lynbrook (N.Y.) / True Blue has committed to Hobart. This summer, he attended the Lehigh LaxFest, Best of the Best, Crab City Challenge and Blue Chip 225. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound recruit also plays varsity football, choosing the Statesmen after considering Bellarmine, Towson and UMass.

Connor Fitch, M, Cranford (N.J.) / BBL has committed to Holy Cross. He chose the Crusaders after considering Brown, Dartmouth and St. Joseph’s.

Sean Colbert, D, Wantagh (N.Y.) / FLG has committed to St. Joseph’s. The 5’11, 185-pound athlete also plays for Wantagh’s varsity football squad, drawing interest from Vermont, Marist and Salisbury before committing to play for Taylor Wray’s program.


Timothy Schmidt, A/M, Mattituck (N.Y.) / True Blue has committed to Wagner. Also a five-year varsity wrestling standout, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound recruit was an All-Star at Top 205 and represented Suffolk County in the Long Island Showcase.

Johnny Daniels, LSM/D, The Woodlands (Tex.) / LI Sting, Dallas Select has committed to Bellarmine. A 4-year member of the varsity and state finalist this past year, he put together a strong summer with All-Star appearances at UNC Team Camp and Philly Showcase Camp. Also attended Hotbeds, UA tryouts and MVP.
