Ty Xanders’ Recruiting Rundown’s Top 75 Sophomores

Moore
As the final set of brand new rankings going up this month, it’s time to introduce Recruiting Rundown’s Top 75 Sophomores.

This list was done in August with Top 25 & Watchlist of 40, however number rankings were assigned for the Watchlist members to come out with the most extensive 2017 rankings to date. Ten names came into the mix.

As always, feel free to drop me a line at tyxanders@gmail.com regarding any mistakes, omissions, video, positive or negative feedback, etc. and I’ll make sure to get back to you.

Each year, the sophomore rankings are the most time-consuming and difficult task for me to complete, especially considering the high level of visibility of these kids. So while the hours on the fields, computer and phone are put in, it’s so early in their careers that there’s not much separation. Is there really much of a difference between a recruit in the mid 60’s and late 60’s? Of course not – however, everything will play itself out over the years. Some kids will commit (and/or get a high ranking) early and continue to work hard while others rest on their laurels because they think they have it made. Dozens of 2017’s have yet to breakthrough for whatever reason and will try to use a strong November to solidify their standing with media and college coaches alike.

That’s why it makes sense for RR to have a sizable Watchlist posted after the fall recruiting period. Whether they were on my radar or not, plenty of deserving names missed the cut, though a handful come to mind as kids who may have deserved Top 75 status but have to show more over the next few weeks. After all, college coaches wait until after the fall too.

With a couple of updates per year, this is a list that is ever-changing, so they’ll be all over the place and will put the pressure on kids to perform. Don’t get down in the dumps or complain if your name is missing. Instead, take it upon yourself to outwork and outplay the rest of the class to get ranked if it means that much to you. Remember, there are three seasons left. That’s plenty of time to develop and improve.

But you’re a better man than me for doing all the research. Hope to see you out west this fall/winter. Great new site by the way.
